I popped the button on his pants and trailed my tongue over the curve of his jaw. “Does it matter? Julian can wait.”

 

Micah growled and spun me to the dresser, lifting to set me on top. He slapped a palm against the wall above my head, caging me in. Escape, although I didn’t want it, would have been near impossible.

 

“Don’t even say his name. One day, I’m going to rip out his spinal cord.” The coarse golden hair dusting his jaw rasped against my cheek as he took my mouth in a kiss that sent us both spiraling.

 

The aggression lurking inside him coalesced. Demanding. Rough. He moved his hands over my body, exploring me as if we’d not already memorized every inch of each other earlier that day at the Vault. Mindless to anything except the male body in front of me, I was lost to all reason.

I threaded my fingers through his hair, holding him against me. I stroked my tongue against his, addicted to the taste of him. When I tilted my head to the side, our teeth clanked. Our embrace deepened as he dug his hands into the soft flesh at my hips and slid me close. He ground his body against mine and devoured me.

 

The demon lurking under the surface made me yearn for it to claim me. Never breaking the kiss, Micah moved the material covering my breast aside and cupped the tender weight. A sharp spike of need ran straight to my core. His hands were callused, the perfect texture moving across my sensitive nipple. The sudden need pulsing through me was going to tear me in half.

 

When he released my mouth, I gasped for breath. The sensations he caused had me clutching the corded muscles at his back. Featherlight, such a contrast to the frenzied need to mate surging between us, his lips moved across my cheek to my neck.

 

“I want your hair down.”

 

He tugged at a few things and within seconds, my painstakingly created up-do fell apart. He ran his hand through my curls. The gentle touch turned forceful. Forming a fist, he tugged, eliciting another needy moan when my head snapped to the side allowing the access he desired.

He nipped the scar on the side of my throat, the imprint of his teeth. I trembled from head to toe.

Instead of Megan or any other woman, Johnnie stepped in and leaned against the door. He’d been running his fingers through his hair a lot, so the blond strands lay all over his head. The sadness in his eyes made her heart twist and she stepped closer to him before gliding her fingers along his jawline.

The stubble that had grown since he’d shaved this morning scraped against her fingertips. She wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her nose against his neck, inhaling his scent.

Smoke. Alcohol. The faintest hint of aftershave. Musk. And him. Johnnie.

She planted kisses against his throat and up to his mouth. He groaned and pulled her closer, taking control of the kiss and dipping his tongue into her mouth. Heat pooled low in her belly, her pussy slickening in need.

“I’m so glad you’re here with me, gorgeous,” he whispered, thumbing her nipples and thrusting his erection against her.

Kendall melted at his words and smiled, pulling back to stare into his eyes, burning with a silver intensity that seemed to reach into her soul. But she wouldn’t tell him again that she loved him right now. He was dealing with too much. Besides, she wanted to know how deep his feelings went for her. She couldn’t face his rejection.

“Come out with me?” he asked quietly. “I’m about to tell a hilarious story about K-P. Well, it’s more about us but K-P walked in at the end and—“ He rubbed the back of his neck and he shrugged before forcing a smile onto his lips. “I’d like you to be out there.”

Unable to deny him as much as she wanted to ask they return to their room, Kendall nodded.

His grin wasn’t as bleak. Grabbing her hand, he moved away from the door, opened it, and then guided her out. He went to the center of the floor and whistled to call attention to himself.

“You’d never know just by looking at our ugly mugs how two little guys have woven their way into our hearts,” he began when the room fell silent. “I’m going to be a father, too, thanks to my old lady.” He nodded to Kendall and she blinked, heat rising to her cheeks, not expecting Johnnie to make such an announcement.

Claps and catcalls reached Kendall, Johnnie’s loudest of all. She didn’t know how to feel about having so much attention focused on her and wished Johnnie would’ve discussed his intentions with her, so she could’ve been better prepared.

Sliding into the seat she’d had earlier, she ignored the stares directed at her, balling her hands into fists to keep from screaming at everyone to focus elsewhere. Like on Johnnie, who was finally launching into the story he’d mentioned to her in the bathroom.
Losing herself in the cadence of his voice, Kendall blocked out everyone else and focused on the anecdote.

“What was that all about?” Fergus’s rich voice startled her from behind. Nessia drew in a deep breath as the effect of his voice swept shivers over her body. She turned to face him and braced herself. Would they quarrel this time? Or would he pull her to him? One thing was certain. Nessia would not betray Freya.

 

“Well?”

 

“Nothing. Freya and I were wondering which of us is the best rider and felt it’s too bad we cannot find out today.” Nessia hoped her lie wasn’t obvious. She raised her chin and he grinned. God’s blood, he had the dimples too, though his were harder, deeper than William’s.

 

“You’re right about that. ’Tis, too dangerous out there.”

 

He said that as if she was the one acting reckless. Nessia placed her hands on her hips. “I know that.” Freya needed the lecture, not she. He was as irritating as ever.

 

“When is our guest expected?” She could give as good as she got.

 

Fergus’s grin disappeared and he took a step closer. Nessia had to strain to look up at him.

“Within the hour,” he said, standing over her.

 

“And where will she stay?”

 

Fergus took another step closer. “That’s not your concern, lass,” Fergus said, his voice hard. Nessia jumped. His mood had not improved since yesterday, and she had been a fool to try to engage him in any serious conversation. She was like a trapped animal, about to be toyed with then devoured.

 

The air around them crackled as she became ever aware of their proximity. Nessia was transfixed. Part of her wanted to flee and the other wanted to pull him into the nearest stall. The closer he drew, the more her body awakened in response. Her pulse drummed, her blood humming in her veins.

 

“Do you wish to ride?” he asked, breaking her thoughts. The duality of his question made her insides clench.

 

“No, of course not.” She tried to sound convincing, but her voice cracked, sounding more than a little pathetic instead. She then realized that she was covered in sweat from the kitchen and much of her hair had come loose from her braid and was now matted around her face and neck. She must look a fright.

 

Unable to think of anything intelligent to say, Nessia turned on her heel to walk away from him. Fergus’s hand shot out and grabbed her wrist. As Nessia turned back to face him she felt the warmth from his fingers radiate up her arm. Her breath caught. She was defenceless against his strength and intense gaze.

 

“Is there anything I should know about Freya?” he asked, his thumb stroking her wrist.

 

“No.” Her voice was but a whisper. “We spoke of riding.”

 

Fergus’s gaze travelled down to her mouth as her lips moved over the false words. Watching his hazel eyes turn darker was intoxicating. Mere seconds felt like an age as he studied her mouth.

 

Gripping her wrist tighter, he pulled her forward so that their bodies pressed together. Only the arm he used to hold her rested between them, just under her breasts. Fergus’s gaze dropped to her chest and his lips parted.

 

A great jolt shot straight to her core as the juncture of her thighs clenched. She couldn’t move even if she wanted to. He was close enough for his breath to fan her face. He smelled of leather and sweet mead. She wanted to taste him.

 

Fergus bent his head and then stopped. His gaze flew to hers and a pained looked crossed his features. She tried to pull her arm away, but he pulled her tighter to him. His teeth were bared and his brow drawn tight.

I honestly could not stop thinking about this book once I read it.  I fell for the characters immediately! I felt their emotions like they were my own. The life like circumstances were so entertaining! Half vampire / half humans and demons galore. This was a plus for me because I love paranormal romances.

The sex was enticing and the characters were perfect for one another. The chemistry between Ella and Micah was so hot, that you wish they really existed. Who doesn't want a relationship like they have?

The plot had a little bit of everything in it. Mystery, romance, steamy sex, and emotionally enthralling. The twist and turns that happen only make it where you are unable to put this read down. When I reached the last page, I was absolutely sad and could not wait for the next installment to come out in the series.

I love paranormal and I have to say, this book reaches one of the top on my list. I am so glad I decided to read it, and honestly, I would read it again and again. I just can't get enough of it! Micah is so amazing and he fights for his woman no matter the circumstances; alpha to the core.

You won't be disappointed by this amazing read.

This book was riveting, exciting, unstoppable, and delicious. From the moment it started, to that final close, I was in complete addiction mode.

Nathan was one of the sexiest males yet. Jordana was mysterious, enthralling, and the perfect mixture of innocence with a hint of rebellion. After twelve books in this Midnight Breed series, it is still going strong. The author is adding some great story lines along with it, so she can continue an amazing series.

I give this book a high five and sit in unease because it will be a while before my addiction can be sated again. I couldn't put it down! I love this series! Lara Adrian's writing never ceases to amaze me. Always a surprising twist with enough mystery lurking to keep you on your toes.

This is one of the best vampire series out! This book educated you on topics that may have kept you wondering in the past. These characters are such an unstoppable force, they reel you in, showing you how they get better over time. You will not regret sinking your fangs into this one.
